What topics are taught
When?
The number of weeks in a school year varies. Sometimes there are 40 weeks, sometimes
more, sometimes less. Hence I keep State school holidays as much as possible.
I may change the order of teaching the topics due to foreseen or unforeseen circumstances.
I revise all topics in the Fact Tests at the start of each lesson.
Years 11 and 12
For Years 11 and 12, I teach all the topics in the syllabus.
Year 10
For Year 10, I teach only those topics which lead on to Years 11 and 12. As well,
we do a minor segment of preparation for the School Certificate. However, the major
thrust of Year 10 work is to give you strong foundations for Years 11 and 12.
Is there an Extension 2 course in Year 11?
Our Extension 2 students stay as part of the Extension 1 class (Thursdays) until
the Year 12 HSC students have left – in October. They then move to the Monday
time slot and the Extension 2 course starts. It's possible to run a Year 11 Extension
2 course throughout Year 11. But, since the Extension 2 course needs the Extension
1 course as a pre-requisite, I decided to timetable it this way. Most of the Extension
2 Year 11 students come on Mondays and Thursdays. There is no extra charge.
