Revision Tutorials
The missing element in schools
You are studying in an education system which values success in examinations. However
the school system lacks an essential ingredient needed for you to achieve this:
there are no regular revision tutorials at school!
You will be taught a topic, have a test on it and then you won't see that topic
again until a major exam. You fail the exam, not for any good reason, but because
you have forgotten what you have learned. Smith Mathematics Coaching has
a revision section in every lesson so that you do not forget what
you have learned.
Intensive Revision Period
At the end of Year 12, you have an intensive revision period where every topic is
revised and you study past HSC questions on that topic in depth. There are at least
15 revision lessons/tutorials during this time.
I work on the principle that Mathematics is not a spectator sport. My teaching reflects
this. If I give a worked example on the board, you will immediately do a similar
question yourself. The less work that I do and the more work that you do, the happier
I am and the better mathematicians you become.
When I become aware that a student has a weakness, I first fix the weakness and
then write revision exercises for the student. I've put more about this in the Individual Help section.
